How do I create a Group?

1.  Tap ‘Split’ on your home screen, then ‘Create group split’.

2.  Choose the friends you want to add to the group.

3.  Give the group a name and pick an icon — for example "Japan 2026" with a plane.

4. Already have expenses to split? Select them now. If not, tap ‘Continue’ without selecting and add them later.

That's it — the group will appear in the Groups tab straight away.

Who can I add to a Group?

You can add anyone who uses YouTrip. Choose them from your YouTrip friends list, or tap “'Add unsaved number’” and search for them by mobile number.

How many people can be in a Group?

You can add up to 20 people in a Group, including yourself.

Can I add a friend who isn't on YouTrip?

Not yet — for now, Groups are for YouTrip users only. You can invite them to join YouTrip from the Add members screen, and add them to the Group once they're set up.

If you need to split an expense with someone who isn't on YouTrip, you can still use a one-off split instead.

Can I create a Group without adding myself?

No. Whoever creates the group is automatically part of it.

Being added to a group

Someone added me to a Group. What happens?

You'll get a notification when someone invites you to a Group. Tap it to open the Group, where you’ll see who added you and the option to Join or Decline. You're only added to the Group once you tap Join.

Why am I seeing an "Avoid scams" warning?

It means the person who added you isn't in your phone contacts, or you haven’t provided the app access to your contact list. It’s simply a safety reminder — only accept requests from people you know, and decline anything you don't recognise.

If the person is in your contacts, you'll see a note confirming this instead.

What happens if I decline?

You won’t be added to the Group, and the person who invited you will be updated accordingly.

I declined by mistake. Can I get back in?

Yes, just ask anyone in the Group to add you again, and you'll get a fresh invitation.

How do I add someone to a group that already exists?

Anyone in the Group can add new members. Open the Group, click on ‘Add members’, and select from your YouTrip friends list.

If you haven’t saved their contact, tap on “‘Invite unsaved number’” to search for their mobile number, or share the Group's invite link with them.

They'll still need to accept the invitation before they're added.
