How do I add a shared expense to a Group?
Open the Group and tap ‘Create Group Split’. Then:
1. Tick the YouTrip transactions you want to split — you can select more than one.
2. Give the Split a name and icon, like "Dinner at teamLab".
3. Decide who pays what.
4. Slide to request.
Everyone included in the split is notified, and the expense will be added to the Group’s running balances.
Can I split something I didn't pay for with YouTrip — cash, or another card?
Yes. On the ‘Select transactions’ screen, tap ‘Add your own expense’ and enter the amount.
Two things to know:
- These expenses can only be entered in SGD.
- They’ll only appear inside the Group. They won't show up in your YouTrip transaction history, because the payment wasn’t made with your YouTrip card.
Can I split several transactions in one go?
Yes. You can select up to 20 transactions; they'll be bundled into a single Split, so your friends receive one request instead of multiple.
What happens with foreign currency transactions?
If the transaction was made in a supported YouTrip wallet currency, it stays in the currency you spent in. The SGD equivalent is calculated using the YouTrip rate at the moment the Split was created.
If a Split includes expenses in different currencies, the total amount will also be shown in SGD.
I made a mistake in a Split. Can I fix it?
You can't edit a Split once it’s been created. Instead, delete it and create a new one with the right details.Only the person who created the Split can delete it.
Everyone in the Split will be notified when it's deleted. If someone has already paid their share, their payment will remain in their transaction records as proof of payment.
Can I move an older Split into a Group?
Not yet. Splits created before the Group existed will stay where they are, under the All tab.
Why can’t I add a split into my Group?
If you are unable to find your Group in the “Recent Groups” section while creating a split, it likely means that you have not accepted the invite to join a group. You will need to accept the invite to join a group before you add a split to a group.
Deciding who pays what
What are my options for splitting an amount?
You have four options, all shown on the same screen:
- Equally — everyone pays the same share.
- Exact amount – set how much each person pays.
- Percentage — set each person’s share as a percentage
- Shares — assign more or fewer shares to each person. For example, one person can have two shares while another has one.
One person didn't join in on that meal. Can I leave them out?
Yes. Everyone in the Group is selected by default — just untick anyone who wasn't involved, and the amounts will be recalculated for the rest.
Can I add someone new while I'm in the middle of creating a Group Split?
No. You’ll need to add them to the Group first before creating the Split.
What do I see before it's sent?
You’ll see a review screen with the Group name, number of members included, the total amount, and each person's share. Nothing is sent until you slide to request.
Seeing who owes what
Where do I see the running total for a Group?
You’ll see it at the top of the Group page.
- You owe — the total amount you owe across everyone in the Group.
- Friends owe — the total amount your friends owe you.
If there’s nothing outstanding, it’ll simply show All settled.
How do I see how much each person owes or is owed?
The Balance tab lists every member with their balance, colour-coded:
- Red — they owe more than they’re owed.
- Grey — they’re owed more than they owe.
- Green — they’re all settled.
You're always pinned to the top of the list. Tap any person to see the details behind their balance.
Where do I see all the Splits in a Group?
The Splits tab shows every split in the Group, with the newest first. Tap a Split to see the transactions included, who was involved, and how much each person owes.
