How do I pay someone back?
Tap ‘You owe’ at the top of the Group, choose the person you want to pay, and you'll see a breakdown of the amount you owe. Tap ‘Send now’ and 'Slide to confirm'.
The payment is made within YouTrip, and the Split is marked as paid automatically.
Can I choose which currency I pay in?
If all the transactions are in the same supported wallet currency, you can choose to pay in the transaction currency or SGD.
If the transactions are in different currencies, the payment will default to SGD
My friend paid me in cash. How do I record that?
Tap ‘Friends owe’, select your friend, and tap ‘Mark as paid’. Their balance will update for everyone in the group.
This can't be undone, so only mark it as paid once you've actually received the money.
How do I remind someone without it being awkward?
Tap ‘Follow up’. YouTrip will draft a message with a breakdown of what they owe, which you can send through WhatsApp, Telegram, or any chat app.
I don't have enough in my YouTrip wallet to pay someone.
Top up your YouTrip wallet first, then come back to the Group and send the payment.
Someone is asking me for money I don't think I owe.
You can decline the request from the Group. The person who created the Split will be notified, so you can sort it out together and recreate the Split with the correct details.
Simplified Payments
What is Simplified Payments?
In a group, people can end up owing each other in circles. For example, Lisa owes Mary $20. Mary owes Heather $20. Simplified Payments works out the fewest transfers needed to settle everyone.
With Simplified Payments, Lisa only needs to pay Heather $20.
Why am I being asked to pay someone I never borrowed from?
That's Simplified Payments doing its job. Instead of sending money through a chain of people, YouTrip works out who needs to pay whom directly.
Everyone still pays or receives the same amount overall —just with fewer transfers to settle.
How can I turn on Simplified Payments?
Tap the toggle on the Group page and you'll see a short explanation with an example before anything changes.
Can I turn off Simplified Payments after turning it on?
Yes, you can turn off Simplified Payments as long as nobody in the Group has made a payment yet.
Once someone has paid, Simplified Payments stays on until everyone in the Group is settled. This keeps the remaining balances consistent.
It will automatically toggle off once everyone in the Group is settled up.
Can we keep adding expenses while it's on?
Yes. You can continue adding expenses to the Group. However, the suggested payments will be recalculated each time a new expense is added.
What happens once everyone has settled?
Simplified Payments will toggle off automatically once everyone in the Group is settled up.
Managing your group
Can I leave a Group?

Can I be removed from a Group?
The Group admin can remove someone as long as they don’t have any outstanding balance. If you do, you’ll need to settle up first.
Safety and problems
Requests you don't recognise, and where to get help.
I've been added to a Group by someone I don't know.
Decline the invitation. If the person isn’t in your contacts, you'll see a warning on the invitation screen, and you can report them from there. Ignoring the request won’t add you to the Group or affect your balance.
Is my money at risk if I join a Group?
No. Joining a group doesn't give anyone access to your YouTrip wallet. Money only leaves your account when you make a payment yourself, and when you authorise the transaction.
