Biometric authentication is an additional layer of security introduced to better protect your YouTrip account from fraud and unauthorised access. All users are required to complete biometric enrolment using facial recognition, which helps us verify that only you can access your account.
Why is it required?
Unlike passwords, SMS OTPs, or App PINs, which can be compromised through phishing or social engineering, biometric authentication cannot be shared or reused. Facial recognition provides a more secure way for us to safeguard your account. Biometric authentication also reduces the risk of account takeovers that rely on stolen credentials.
How does it work?
From early January 2026, all YouTrip users will be required to:
- Complete a one-time facial enrolment (takes approximately 2 minutes)
- Follow the on-screen instructions for liveness detection, such as gently turning your head
- Your encrypted biometric template will be securely stored for future authentication
- You may be prompted for biometric login if unusual activity is detected
When attempting the enrollment, please ensure the on-screen instructions are followed closely, including:
1. Your entire face fits clearly within the on-screen frame
2. Avoid holding the phone too close or too far that your face is beyond the on-screen frame or too small.
.
3. Both the right and left sides of your face are captured within the stipulated time frame.
4. Please only turn your head after the green indicator is shown to confirm each side has been captured successfully.
What about my privacy?
Your biometric data is encrypted and used only for account authentication. It is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
