3D Secure (3DS) is an added layer of security that helps protect your online card transactions. It allows us to verify that you are the authorised cardholder when making an online payment.
With 3DS enabled on your YouTrip card, you may be asked to authorise certain online purchases before the payment is completed. This allows you to make payments with merchants that require 3DS authentication.
Do note that the need to authorise your payment with 3DS is entirely dependent on the merchant or website that you're making a payment to.
3DS is a security protocol developed by card schemes such as Mastercard and Visa to help prevent online payment fraud. It uses risk-based checks to determine whether a transaction needs additional verification.
How do I use 3DS?
When making an online purchase and entering your YouTrip card details (card number, expiry date, and CVV), the merchant may prompt you to authorise the transaction during checkout.
2. You’ll receive a push notification from the YouTrip app.
Tap the notification, open the app, and log in if prompted.
3. You’ll see a 3DS verification screen showing the transaction details, including the amount and the merchant name. Review the information carefully, then slide to confirm the payment or tap “Reject” to cancel the transaction.
4. You’re done! You can now return to the merchant’s site to complete or review the transaction.
Which merchants require 3D Secure?
Many online merchants use 3D Secure, so it is not possible to list them all. Some commonly used merchants that may require 3DS include:
Shopee
Lazada
Qoo10
And many more!
You can also check the merchant’s website for 3D Secure card scheme logos such as “Verified by Visa” or “Mastercard SecureCode”, which indicate that 3DS may be required for payment.
